01 / Overview & Core Capabilities

Smarter rewards without surrendering your financial privacy.

Most reward trackers force you to link bank accounts via third-party aggregators. CardWise AI flips the model: you select which card products you hold, and our local decision engine calculates the math right inside your browser.

01

Build Your Local Wallet

Pick from 50+ pre-configured U.S. credit cards (Chase, Amex, Capital One, Citi, Discover, Bilt, U.S. Bank) or create custom cards with your own category multipliers. No card numbers or CVVs ever entered.

02

Automatic Checkout Detection

When you reach an online checkout page, CardWise AI detects the merchant category and cart total—popping up a sleek recommendation badge in the bottom-right corner or inside the toolbar popup.

03

Clear Math & Explainability

See the exact dollar return of every card in your wallet based on your custom cents-per-point (CPP) valuations, plus a clear explanation of why the winning card came out on top.

02 / Interactive Checkout Simulator

See how CardWise AI ranks your wallet

Click a merchant scenario below to see how the extension's decision engine evaluates category multipliers, point valuations, and network rules in real time.

Merchant: Amazon.com • Category: Online Retail

Recommended: Chase Prime Visa

Earns 5% back at Amazon.com ($6.00 value on a $120 cart). Beats your 3% online retail card by +$2.40 and your 2% catch-all card by +$3.60.

Why This Matters: CardWise automatically recognizes merchant-specific co-brand rules in addition to standard MCC shopping categories.
03 / Complete User Guide

Getting started & mastering CardWise AI

Follow this step-by-step guide to install the extension, configure your credit card wallet, tune your point valuations, and use the checkout advisor.

Step 1 • Installation Time required: ~1 minute

Installing the Chrome Extension & Pinning to Your Toolbar

  1. Install from Chrome Web Store (or Unpacked Developer Mode): If installing from a local release folder, open Chrome and navigate to chrome://extensions, enable Developer mode in the top-right corner, click Load unpacked, and select your CardWise folder.
  2. Pin CardWise AI for 1-Click Access: Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon in the top-right of Chrome's toolbar and click the Pin icon next to CardWise AI - Card Rewards Advisor.
  3. Open the Wallet Dashboard: Click the CardWise toolbar icon and click the ⚙️ Settings / Manage Wallet button (or right-click the extension icon and choose Options).
Step 2 • 💳 My Wallet Tab Catalog + Custom Cards

Adding & Customizing Your Credit Card Portfolio

Inside the 💳 My Wallet tab of the Options dashboard, you can build your personal card portfolio without ever typing an account number:

A. Adding from the 50+ U.S. Card Catalog
  • • Select your Card Issuer (e.g., Chase, American Express, Capital One, Citi, Discover, Wells Fargo, Bilt).
  • • Select the Card Template from the second dropdown and click Add Card.
  • • Each seeded card comes pre-loaded with its base rate, bonus categories, annual fee, welcome offer notes, benefits, and statement credits.
B. Creating or Editing Custom Cards
  • • Click Custom Card to add credit union or regional cards with custom multipliers for Dining, Grocery, Travel, Gas, and Online Shopping.
  • • On any wallet card, use the quick control bar to set a Wallet Nickname (e.g., "P2 Sapphire" or "Joint Grocery Card"), mark a card as Preferred (★), pause/enable it, or open the full Profile Editor.
Step 3 • ⚙️ Preferences Engine Tab Optimization Modes & Point Valuations

Choosing Your Decision Engine Strategy & Cents-Per-Point (CPP)

Everyone optimizes rewards differently. In the ⚙️ Preferences Engine tab, you can choose how CardWise weighs points versus cashback:

MODE 01 • DEFAULT
Balanced Dollar Value

Converts transferable points (using your custom CPP valuation) and compares them head-to-head against flat cashback cards to pick the highest dollar return.

MODE 02 • CASH IS KING
Cashback Focused Only

Disregards travel transfer multipliers and ranks your cards strictly on guaranteed statement credit / cashback percentage.

MODE 03 • AWARD TRAVELERS
Travel Points Oriented First

Prioritizes transferable travel point ecosystems (Chase UR, Amex MR, Capital One, Bilt) over flat cashback when building award balances.

MODE 04 • MINIMALIST
Simplicity Mode First

Always recommends your Designated Default Flat Card unless another card beats it by at least your Minimum Switch Threshold (e.g., $1.00+ extra value).

Custom Point Program Valuations (CPP) & Business Mode: In the right-hand panel of Preferences, you can adjust the exact cents-per-point value for each rewards currency (e.g., setting Chase Ultimate Rewards to 2.0¢ or Amex MR to 1.8¢) and toggle Business Spending Priorities Mode to favor business cards on business merchants.
Step 4 • At Checkout & Analytics Real-Time Usage

Using the Floating Checkout Widget, Quick Calculator & Analytics

1. Floating Checkout Widget

When you visit a checkout page, CardWise parses the cart total and displays a compact floating widget in the bottom-right corner showing your #1 card and estimated reward value.

2. Toolbar Quick Calculator

Shopping on any site before checkout? Click the CardWise toolbar icon and type any dollar amount into the Quick Purchase Calculator to see instant rankings across all your cards.

3. Analytics & AI Source Parser

Visit the 📈 Analytics tab to see your cumulative rewards recaptured, or use Card Sources in the Profile Editor to paste issuer benefit terms and let CardWise AI highlight rule changes.

🔒 04 / Privacy-First Architecture

✓ No Card Numbers: Zero 16-digit PANs, expiration dates, or CVVs stored.
